More than 1000 Edo youths, led by the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Godwin Obaseki on Anti-Human Trafficking Issues, Mr. Solomon Okoduwa yesterday commended the state government on its strides in sports development. They also hailed the state’s deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu for his passion and love for sports in Edo State.

Okoduwa explained that the deputy governor’s commitment has promoted sports development in the state beyond imagination, adding that his unalloyed support for youths has led to the repositioning of Bendel Insurance Football Club.

Speaking at the University of Benin Sports Complex, Okoduwa, who led the youths on Tuesday to receive Governor Obaseki shortly after he arrived the state from his annual vacation, declared that Edo State youths, especially the returnees from Libya, have passed a vote of confidence on the governor, and his deputy, Philip Shaibu for their unflinching support towards the reintegration of returnees and youths in the state.

Okoduwa, who pledged the support of the youths for governor’s re-election bid, said they have vowed to continue to support and back the administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki due to his vision in transforming the state, both in sports development and other youth-oriented programmes.

Okoduwa also said the state’s reintegration programme for the returnees from Libya, among others, came as a welcome relief for the youths, particularly those who went on irregular migration.
