Former Super Eagles Coach, Chief Adegboye Onigbinde says Nigeria’s football is fading out gradually going by Super Eagles’ latest FIFA ranking.

The Eagles failed to qualify for the 2017 AFCON and were ranked 14th position in Africa from their 12th in March and also dipped from 62nd to 67th in the world.

Speaking with The Guardian yesterday, Onigbinde expressed worries over the nation’s football saying: “Apparently, the latest FIFA’s ranking just tells us that all is not well with the our football. Our football is fading out gradually. That is what it means. I remember at a time we were in a single digit and from there to almost 70th position. It is so unfortunate.”

Asked where the nation got it wrong, Onigbinde said: “The question one should have been asked was have we ever got it right? The truth is that we have never got it right. It is not a question of where we get it wrong.

“I have been asking for answers and I will be grateful if somebody can give me a copy of our developmental football programme. I have been asking over years from series of papers I have written and interviews; yet nobody has been able to answer me. Somehow, may be, from another regime that is likely to come out with the recent court decision. Only time will tell,” he said.
