The German city of Dortmund will be on fire this weekend when top contenders, Borussia Dortmund and visiting Eintracht Frankfurt battle for supremacy in the Bundesliga. It is week 22 of the competition and the third-placed Dortmund side is hoping for a home victory to further help their race for the top of the table.

Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt have played a total of 37 matches, while Dortmund won 20 direct matches, Frankfurt has won only six with 11 matches ended in a draw.

The Borussia Dortmund versus Eintracht Frankfurt match on Friday at the Signal Iduna Park is the first Bundesliga game for the weekend. After 21 rounds of play, third-placed Dortmund has 39 points, just four behind leaders, Bayern Munich. Eintracht is currently occupying the ninth position with 28 points.

Borussia Dortmund’s struggles in defense continued last week, with the team recording two defeats in a row, and despite scoring a combined five goals they conceded seven. No drawing has been registered in Borussia’s last seven matches, as each of the last four was won by the sides playing at home.

Eintracht Frankfurt is performing on another level in 2020. Beginning 2020 with a loss and on a run of five consecutive defeats and seven matches without a triumph, the team is unbeaten in the five competitive games they played, winning four times in the process. Last weekend Eintracht Frankfurt trashed the visiting Augsburg by 5:0.

Other testy clashes to look forward to in the Bundesliga this weekend include the Wolfburg showdown with Hoffenheim at the Rhein-Neckar Arena on Saturday, Monchengladbach versus Fortuna, as well as a potential thriller involving Bayern and FC Koln on Sunday.
