Having played alongside Georgia Oboh at the 2018 Cote d’Ivoire Open, Nobuhle Dhlamini from Swaziland says the Nigerian has the potential to dominate the sport in Africa and also compete successfully in the world.

Oboh’s Sunshine Ladies tour came to a successful end last Thursday. The teenager made the cut in the last event and appeared to be trending in the right direction with scores of 80/79/75 over the three days.

She made quite an impression on the more experienced lady professionals on the Sunshine tour such that Dhlamini, who is also a member of the Ladies European Tour, said she has already become a role model for other aspiring African professionals. She encouraged the teenager to keep focusing and learning the trade keenly.

Dlamini is the head professional at the Serengeti Golf Estate and has played twice with Oboh on this season’s tour. She had nothing but great words to say about her game, ball striking, attitude and temperament.

Dlamini is convinced that Georgia will become a great ambassador for the game and urged her to stay patient, acknowledging that sponsorship was still a big challenge for the teenage golfer.

Oboh will begin her official tour on the LETAS series in Europe with the season opener at Terre Blanche Golf Resort In Tourette in France today.

The Ladies European tour also held its rookie training session at the venue with rookies from over 20 countries, with Oboh the only African rookie on the 2019 tour season.

The field of 120 players is made up of professional lady players and amateurs from over 25 countries across the world, mostly from Europe.

The tournament is a strong field of both LET players and the LETAS players, all vying for the €40,000 total prize purse.

The winner will get just about 15 per cent of that fund and the rest split to all players that made the cut after two days of 36 holes of golf.
