Angel Di Maria , has revealed he does not want to leave Manchester United this summer despite admitting he is unhappy at not starting more games for the Red Devils.

The Argentina international arrived at Old Trafford from Real Madrid for a British record transfer fee of £59.7 million last August, and initially enjoyed a promising start to life in the Premier league But after suffering injury towards the end of last year, the winger found his playing time reduced and was used increasingly as a substitute by Louis van Gaal as the season came to an end.

And Di Maria – who has been linked with a shock move to Barcelona recently – has now revealed he has found his lack of playing time at Old Trafford hard to understand. When asked if he felt uneasy about his situation, the 27-year-old told Argentine newspaper Ole: “Yes. For me and my family.

Because not everything goes as I want, because I don’t play. “Because you go with an intention and you end up on the bench. It’s hard to tell how I feel there.” When questioned about his debut season with United, Di Maria replied: “I started well, with goals and assists. I was having a good time until I was out.

“It’s a little difficult to explain why I don’t play [often].” Asked if he had thought about leaving United as a result of his substitute role, he said: “No, because I’m not thinking like that.

“In Madrid there were times when I was whistled around the stadium but I faced it and then turned it around. “I like to deal with things.” Di Maria is currently on international duty with his nation at the Copa America in Chile.
