Crisis looms, as Ondo FA queries ODSFA
UNLESS reason prevails, Ondo State football could be enmeshed in crisis following reports coming out of the state.
At the weekend, the Ondo State Football Association (FA) queried the state’s football agency (ODSFA) for undermining the duty of the association in the state.
This was contained in a communiqué made available to newsmen yesterday after an emergency meeting of the association in Akure.
In the communiqué, signed by the FA Chairman, Otunba Dele Ajayi and Secretary of the Association, Babatunde Fagite, the association protested that the ODSFA management had taken over virtually all its activities.
It also noted that the agency has refused to do its statutory financial obligations to the FA in the state and refused to recognise the body in its various activities in the state.
Furthermore, the communiqué directed the management of ODSFA to produce the people that disrupted the match between Sunshine Stars and Lobi Stars that led to the banishment of Sunshine to Lagos.
“ODSFA has constantly masterminded hooliganism, thuggery and violence on and off the pitch. The management of ODSFA has consistently disobeyed and disrespected the Ondo State Football Association,” it partly read.
The communiqué also summoned the Chairman of ODSFA, Akin Akinbobola, to appear in person before the board of the FA to defend the allegation, otherwise, failure to comply would lead to sanctions as appropriated by the laws of NFF, CAF and FIFA.
The ODSFA is yet to reply to the charges against it.
