As the Premier League reaches the midway stage of the season after the winter break, clubs are keen on strengthening their squads for the remainder of the current campaign to boost their prospects

Every year, the January transfer window provides as much drama as many of the actual games that take place in the top tier, with an incredible amount of money typically being spent worldwide and particularly in the Premier League.

It seems there’s a three-horse race for the English top-flight title this season, while others are busy chasing a crucial top-four position and those further down hope to avoid a daunting drop down divisions for next term.

So, business in this winter window is often decisive and can help sway success in a certain direction, if the right moves are made. With that in mind, here are some of the biggest potential deals that could occur in the near future this year.

Eden Hazard (Chelsea to Real Madrid)
Chelsea started the season strongly under the guidance of Italian coach Maurizio Sarri, but things have tailed off of late, and they are now battling it out for a top-four place, rather than challenging for the top-flight title. They are now 13/8 with bet365 in the Premier League betting to miss out on a top Champions League place.

Any success that is gained on the pitch usually comes from the help of Belgian ace Eden Hazard, and the Blues stalwart has long been tipped to depart Stamford Bridge for ventures elsewhere in Spain.

Real Madrid are the side lurking for his signature, as they actually continue to struggle themselves in La Liga, but a move to the Galacticos is always an attractive proposition nevertheless.

Could Hazard make a sensational switch from London to the Bernabeu? It would have to be a mammoth offer from the Spanish giants for the Blues even to consider, especially at this decisive point of their Premier League campaign.

The price tag rumoured to have been slapped on Hazard is around £100 million, but it’s clear from past moves that the cash is there for the Spanish powerhouse. Such a switch would undoubtedly be the biggest of the transfer window and cause shockwaves in the footballing world.

Malcom (Barcelona to Spurs)
Spurs have been recently rocked by the news that main man and captain Harry Kane will be missing out on the action until at least March after sustaining an ankle injury against Manchester United.

Therefore, Argentine coach Mauricio Pochettino will likely be delving into the winter market in order to find a suitable short-term replacement for the England international hitman soon.

But one possibly surprising swoop that has been rumoured is that of Barcelona’s Malcom, who only arrived at the Nou Camp last summer from French outfit Bordeaux.

The Brazil international attacker could prove to be a superb signing for the capital club if Pochettino decides to try and add some pace and skill to his attacking ranks this month.

But it’s unclear yet if the Spanish giants are willing to let their young star depart, even on a loan deal. But it’s a move that would excite Spurs fans for sure as they aim to challenge Liverpool and Manchester City for the Premier League title.
