Team Celebrates Victory Over Abia Warriors
Players and officials of Warri Wolves continue to celebrate their victory over ‘high-flying’ Abia Warriors, just as what an official described as ‘minor’ re-organisation has taken place in the club.
Wolves has ended Abia Warriors’ 10-match unbeaten run in the League with a 1-0 defeat in one of their two re-scheduled matches. The Seasiders now have 15 points with one outstanding game against Enyimba in Aba.King Osanga scored the lone goal for Wolves in the 53rd minute at Warri City Stadium.
Meanwhile, the chairman of Delta Sports Commission, Tony Okowa, has explained that the appointment Neville Bikederemo as new chairman of Warri Wolves was not to slight the former chairman, Moses Etu.
Bikederemo takes over from Etu, who has been assigned a new portfolio as Wolves’ General Manager. Bikederemo is an executive member of the Sports Commission representing Delta South Senatorial district.
Speaking with The Guardian yesterday, Tony Okowa explained that he decided to appoint Bikederemo chairman of Warri Wolves because he wants to carry every members of the Commission along.
Apart from the appointment of Bekederemo, another member of the Sports Commission, Eddington Kuejubola, has been named chairman of the newly formed Delta Stars FC, just as the only female member of the Sports Commission, Mrs. Chinenye Daphne-Aliu, takes over Delta Queens FC.Okowa said yesterday that he would put his eyes on activities of Delta Force FC, which has Tony Rafua as General Manager.
He further explained that Moses Etu (General Manager) and the Secretary of Warri Wolves, Azuka Ogosi had been given ‘free hand’ to run the club’s affair, while Bekederemo will plays advisory role as the club chairman.
Also speaking with The Guardian yesterday, the General Manager, Etu, described Warri Wolves 1-0 victory over Abia Warriors as ‘sweet’ saying: “We now have 15 points and our target is to go to Aba and grab a point from our outstanding match against Enyimba.”
