Saturday night will see the return of one of the pound for pound stars in IBF Welterweight Champion, Errol Spence Jr. He will face off against WBC Champion Shawn Porter, in one of the most anticipated 147 pound match-ups for some time. All eyes will be on the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, with the online casinos in Nigeria putting Spence in as the strong favourite to maintain his unbeaten record. The trash talking has continued ahead of the bout, which has further added to the excitement. Here we cover the credentials of each fighter.

Errol Spence
Big things were expected of Spence as a professional having represented the U.S as an amateur at the 2012 Olympics and won three consecutive United States National Championships. This also saw him named as the Prospect of the Year by ESPN back in 2015. Now at 29 years of age, he has an unbeaten professional record of 25 wins, with 21 via knockout.

Spence continued to climb the ranks with impressive victories over the likes of Chris Algieri and Leonard Bundu. He then got his title shot, beating Kell Brook in the UK. The latter had also picked up the title from Shawn Porter. Since then Spence has continued to impress, also ending the unbeaten record of Mikey Garcia earlier this year. He now looks to pick up his second belt and further push up the pound for pound rankings.

Shawn Porter
Porter also had a remarkable amateur background and compiled a record of 276-14, before turning professional. He also won the World Golden Gloves Championship throughout this period. Since turning professional, Porter has quickly established himself as one of the leading forces in the sport and is currently ranked as the fourth best active welterweight by Boxrec.

Porter now has a professional record of 30 wins, one draw and two losses. This includes 17 victories via knockout. His first defeat came when losing his first World title to Kell Brook in a majority decision back in 2014. Following victories over Bone and Broner, he was then beaten by Keith Thurman in just his second career loss. He has now picked up the WBC title and is on a four fight winning streak, so will be hopeful he can cause a shock this weekend against Spence.
