Binuyo named Lagos Islanders’ new general manager

As part of its efforts to excel in next year’s basketball season, Lagos Islanders Basketball Club have appointed Adekunle Binuyo as their first-team General Manager.

Before his new appointment, Binuyo was a founding partner in Basketball Within Borders, a media enterprise established in 2014 where he worked as a basketball journalist, covering athletics in Nigeria and beyond.

Lagos Islanders Basketball Club, which was founded in 1984, according to the team’s management, is the most popular and successful team in Nigeria, attracting millions of fans across the globe.

Speaking on the new manager, president and co- owner of Lagos Islanders, Damoye Oyesiku, said the appointment was done to improve the standard of the club.

“Hiring Binuyo signifies the new direction of Lagos Islanders, which is to make our franchise the premier basketball brand in Africa and to also encourage fan participation across all platforms targeting new trends in the dunking game,” he said.

Baring his mind on his new position, Binuyo stated, “I am happy to get this opportunity to join the Islanders family.
