Manchester City is desperate to keep hold of Sane amid the interest from Bayern Munich. But the German side is keen to test their resolve as they look to replace the now-departed Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery.

City would have to see huge amounts of money waved their way to consider parting with Sane. But Bayern has offered the Premier League champions David Alaba as bait in an effort to tempt City into selling the German, reports Mundo Deportivo.
Alaba was a favourite under Guardiola during his three years in charge at the Allianz Arena. But the arrival of Lucas Hernandez in Bavaria casts doubt over his standing under Niko Kovac.

He currently has a contract until 2021 but is reluctant to sign an extension with his place in the starting XI not guaranteed.

Alaba’s versatility and ability made him an integral part of Guardiola’s efforts in Bavaria and the German champions hope he may be swayed by their offer.

Guardiola maintains that Sane is a valuable member of his squad despite opting for other options during the title run-in.

The 23-year-old has to contend with the likes of Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez for a spot in the City starting XI.

Guardiola, while acknowledging his obvious talent, has never shied away from critiquing Sane and that has led to suggestions he would be prepared to let him move on.

The Catalan though insists he wants Sane to remain in Manchester and hopes he extends his contract beyond its expiry in 2021.

“He is our player and we hope that he can stay here this season and next season and next season,” said Guardiola.
But Bayern chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has warned his former employee not to become naive about his player’s wishes.
He said Guardiola “doesn’t know everything that goes on in his club.”
