Arsenal dent Wolves’ top four place finish as Man United win

Arsenal defeated Wolves to brighten their chances of a place in European next season with an emphatic 2-0 victory in yesterday’s English Premier League fixture played at the Molineux Stadium.

Brilliant Bukayo Saka, who recently extended his contract with The Gunners, scored a master class volley goal in the 43rd minute to his team ahead before substitute, Alexandre Lacazette, increased the scores to 2-0 against a Wolves’ side that have been strong and stubborn on the home front in the season before the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.

The win has now moved Arsenal from the place position last week to the seventh position after yesterday’s fixture. The Gunners also had several opportunities to score more goals after five missed chances that were on targets from the London club.

Earlier, Manchester United came from behind to defeat Bournemouth 5-2 at Old Trafford with Marcus Rashford putting the Red Devils ahead via a penalty and Anthony Martial increasing the tally with a brilliant curling effort before half time.

Meanwhile, bottom-placed Norwich City suffered a shock home defeat against Brighton and Hove Albion at the Carrow Road following a goal from Leandro Trossard in the 25th minute.

Norwich boss, Daniel Farke has described their relegation as unavoidable, adding that, it was “unrealistic” to talk about avoiding relegation from the Premier League after Saturday’s home defeat by Brighton.

“It was more or less our last chance to get back in the mix and we are disappointed. It was more like the performance we ask for. The story of our game was the story of our season, we didn’t find the cutting edge and we then make a big mistake.

“After a few losses, we don’t have the right to make any fighting messages or to make any unrealistic claims. We are not naive, lets show our pride.”
