Archery federation names patrons as Adisa wins NAFED championship
The originator of Archery in Nigeria, Dr. Niran Adeniji, has been unveiled as the life patron of the Nigeria Archery Federation (NAFED).
The investiture was done during the closing ceremony of the three-day maiden Archery workshop/championship at the sports centre of the University of Lagos, Akoka.
Speaking during the unveiling, president of the Nigeria Archery Federation, Mohammed Abdullahi, revealed that Dr. Adeniji, who apart from bringing Archery to the country, has also continued to contribute to the growth and development of the sport hence his investiture as the life patron of the federation.
The federation also unveiled another pioneer of Archery, Professor Tunde Makanju, as patron, saying his selfless service to the sport can never be quantified.
Abdullahi reasoned that with both men supporting Archery in Nigeria, the sport would grow from strength to strength, even as he insisted that the workshop had already served as the propeller for Nigeria’s participation in international events, including the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
West and Central Africa Development agent of Archery, Paul Zinsou, who conducted the three-day workshop, commended the over 30 participants that praised NAFED executive board members for the foresight in organising the workshop.
