Oyo monarch, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi has pledged his support for new national titleholder, Ridwan Oyekola, popularly known as Scorpion, and other boxers from Oyo State that will compete in the forthcoming boxing event tagged, Ileya Boxing Fiesta.

The Alaafin of Oyo, who hosted the new national champion and his manager, Sola Ford, at his palace in Oyo over the weekend, promised to be by the ring side on August 13 (a day after this year’s Eid-Kabir (Ileya)) during the boxing competition scheduled for inside the main-bowl of the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Ibadan, to cheer the boxers to victory.

Oba Adeyemi expressed his joy that Scorpion brought a national title belt back to Oyo State after more than a decade the title had been held by other states.

He also pledged to grace the bout with his high chiefs (the Oyomesis) to give total support to the Oyo boxers.

Meanwhile, the boxing show, put together by Lewis Boxing Promotions in collaboration with Sola Ford Promotions, will see Ridwan Oyekola Scorpion confronting Isaac Dawuona, a Ghanaian, who plies his trade in the United States of America in a continental boxing challenge, while Akeem Sadiku Dodo will also tackle Lokossou Jacob from Republic of Benin in another continental bout.

Other big fights slated for the day include a bantamweight bout between Adeyemi Opeyemi (Sense) and Habeeb Oladeji, Jamiu Akande versus Yusuf Ogunbumi light weight contest, as well the bout between two female boxers, Edith Ogoke and Blessing Godwin, who will battle in the middle-weight category.

Also involved in the fiesta is bout between enterprising Oladosu Rilwan and Moses Samuel.
