• NFF, police meet over collaboration

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) yesterday revealed that Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr, has replaced injured defender, Leon Balogun, with Uche Henry Agbo, for next month’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier away to Zambia’s Chipolopolo in Ndola.

FSV Mainz 05 of Germany centreback Balogun, who shone in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Tanzania in Uyo earlier this month, was named in Nigeria’s 23–man roster for the big match before copping an injury.

The NFF said Rohr has already contacted Granada FC of Spain’s Agbo and his invitation letter sent to the club.

“He will join the other players, who are expected to start arriving at the Bolton White Hotel and Apartments, Abuja on Sunday,” the federation added.
Meanwhile, the NFF says it is liasing with the Nigeria Police (FCT Command) to find ways of achieving greater collaboration in the area of security for its events and programmes.

During a courtesy visit to the new Commissioner of Police (FCT Command), CP Mohammed Mustafa yesterday, NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi underscored the importance of the Police to all events and activities of the football body.

“Security is a very key component in the organization of football, nay sporting events. Over the years, the NFF has received immense co-operation from the Police hierarchy for our events, including local and international matches. We are here to solicit for even greater collaboration with the FCT Command for our programmes and activities.
