Abuja Indian, Pakistani clubs lead as Iris Smart Technologies Cricket League enters week three
Abuja Indians Cricket Club (AICC) and Abuja Pakistanis Cricket Club (APCC) at the weekend won their respective matches to maintain their leading positions at the on-going Iris Smart Technologies Abuja Cricket League, which enters week three on Sunday. The competition is featuring all the Abuja-based cricket clubs, who meet every weekend at the Cricket Club Abuja Grounds, Package B, National Stadium, Abuja.
In Week Two of the competition, Abuja Indians Cricket Club defeated Aso Rock Cricket Club (ARCC) by three runs in the first game, while the Abuja Pakistanis Cricket Club beat Club Cricket Abuja Panthers in the second game of the day.
ARCC, who lost their first game to Abuja Pakistanis, won the toss and elected to field against Abuja Indians. At the end of the first innings, AICC scored 119 runs for the loss of eight wickets.
In the second innings, ARCC chased 119 runs but was only able to score 116 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 19.5 overs. AICC won the match by three runs.
At the end of the first game, Abhinav Sharma emerged the man of the match and was presented with a trophy, and cash price of N5, 000 by Iris Smart Technologies, as well as a 25kg bag of rice by Olam Rice.
In the second game of the day between Cricket Club Abuja Panthers and the APCC, the APCC won the toss and elected to bat first. At the end of the first innings, the APCC scored 157 runs in 20 Overs for the loss of five wickets.
In the second innings, the CCAP came in to chase 157 runs but were disappointingly stooped at 56 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 10.4 Overs. Danis Michael of the APCC won the man of the match award and was also presented a trophy, 25Kg bag of rice by Olam Rice and N5, 000 by Iris Smart Technologies.
The League enters week three this weekend with the CCAP and ARCC meeting in a game featuring teams that lost their opening two matches. The match comes up by 8.00 a.m.
Match two between the Abuja Pakistanis Cricket Club and the Abuja Indians Cricket Club is the potential championship game as they have won their previous two matches. It comes up immediately after the encounter between ARCC and CCAP.
