Vicamen Academy for Karate Fitness and Musical Training at the weekend certified 20 children following their outstanding performance in the 2019 Summer Clinic, which held at Ago Palace Way, Lagos.

The children, who received their certificates with smiles on their faces, expressed their desire to keep combining education with sports, saying that the clinic had exposed their hidden talents.  14-year-old Anugwom Amanda, who emerged the over all best student at the summer clinic, said her goal is to keep feature in more sporting activities, adding that she desired to represent Nigeria in international championships in the future.

“I am happy to be the best student in Karate, music and dance in the summer clinic.“With this achievement, I will keep working hard in my studies and also take part in sports. I thank my parents for giving me the opportunity to practice karate,” she  said.

Speaking at the clinic, the owner of Vicamen Academy, Sensei Victor Akhimien, a fifth degree National Black Belt holder, said awarding the certificates to the children was a way of encouraging them to take sports as serious as their education.

Akhimien, who is also the president of Shitoryu Karate Association of Nigeria (SKAN), thanked the parents of the children for exposing the kids to karate, saying that keeping children physically alert improves their mental well being.

“Awarding certificates to the children is a way to let people know that Vicamen Academy, which is a karate fitness and music school, is committed to bringing out the best in the children.“The children took part in different practical trainings at the summer clinic to get the certificate. Our duty in the academy is to keep training parents in healthy life style and give children  the adequate direction in their chosen skills,” he declared.

The parents and guardians who attended the event commended the organisers for putting up the training, assuring them that they would keep encouraging their children to take part in Karate and other sports.
