Excitement, As Beast Of No Nation Hits Nigerian Cinema
The Silverbird Galleria, Vitoria Island, Lagos, was alive recently, as movie buffs converged for the premiere of Oscar buzzing Beast of No Nation, starring Idris Elba, who had been promoting the movie across the world.
The event, which started with a special red carpet reception, was graced by the likes of Genevieve Nnaji, Dbanj, Okonjo Iweala, Uzodinma Iweala, Beverly Naya, Abraham Attah, Juliet Ibrahim, Nse Ikpe-Etim, Linda Ejiofor, Makida Moka, Emmanuel Ikubese, Senator Ben Bruce and others.
In correction of the errors in previous releases, Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer in Netflix Inc., the company that owns and markets Beasts of no Nation, described the movie as a disruptive success, as the movie has already been seen by three million viewers, not three hundred million viewers, as erroneously published previously.
The movie is based on the well-acclaimed 2005 novel of the same title by the Nigerian-American author, Uzodinma Iweala who was also at the premiere, and was named by Oprah Winfrey, as one of her favourite books. Iweala also co-produced the movie.
A 2015 African war drama film written, shot, and directed by Cary Fukunaga, is about a young boy, who survives as his country goes through a horrific war. Shot in Ghana, the movie featured also Ama K., Abraham Attah, Opeyemi Fagbohungbe and others.
