With Afro series, Terri announces self on the global stage

Despite the prevailing circumstances around his initial career path, fast rising Afrobeat singer and songwriter, Akewe Terry Daniel popularly known as Terri, signing to Wizkid led Starboy Entertainment was poised to accelerate his musical journey. To him, the development will cause a huge shadow of expectation on his career, especially with his input in the club banger, Soco.

The song wasn’t just a groundbreaker amongst mid-2010s Afrobeats records; it was also Terri’s introduction as the first Wizkid-signed artiste, having been discovered by Starboy head honcho longtime producer, Mutay, after seeing him cover the song Oshe on social media.

Prior to his life-changing meeting with Wizkid, Terri was on his way to fame, as he had a seven-track EP ready for release, as well as a viral song titled Voices. Also, he was regarded as superstar in his neighbourhood, as he had great influence and performed at street carnivals even at age 15. He was one time carried all the way home by neighbours and fans after winning a Coca-Cola sponsored singing competition.

With his unique vibe, Terri finds a way to connect around the beautiful Afrobeat sound, especially on the track Wake Up, where he spoke about life and hustle in general; where he started from and where he’s at now.

In Chest, Terri blends Afro-pop, Afrobeat, Afro-dancehall into Afro-fusion to show his strong and barely controllable emotion and affection towards his lady. A brilliant masterpiece, the track is a soothing jam to vibe to.

With Ojoro, Terri tries to speak about his childhood, how he’s been brought up and how he accomplished what he wanted. He also made mention of how he hates to be cheated at any cost.

A dope tune, the track relates to our daily lives as Africans if as we pay close attention to the song. It was brilliantly produced by STG.

With a beautiful display of saxophone and trumpets, laced with African drums and melodic rhythmic sounds, Terri in Ode, reassure listeners that nothing in life is certain, instead we should live our lives as it comes and be thankful everyday to God, as no one owes anybody any explanation for their deeds.

In Kill Man, the Afrobeat star brought his Starboy vibe to bear, thus making the track a masterpiece complimented by the other instruments playing in the background. The track portrays love and sexual attraction towards his lady.

A befitting homage to the world of Afrobeat music, Terri’s creative prowess coupled with his amazing management successfully delivered the album as a total package to the world.
