Her parents encouraged her and she grew up with singing as his best hubby. Often, she was engaged in several church programmes.

Many had thought that getting married would affect her commitment to church activities, especially singing ministration songs, but that was not so.

Her marriage to her heartthrob, Mr Abumchukwu Okonkwo some years ago increased her flair for singing. This is because her husband, a devout Anglican and her four children were supportive of her.

Today, Mrs Okonkwo is a youth class teacher, evangelist, gospel singer and woman leader at St. Paul Anglican Church Adeoye, Mushin, Lagos West Diocese. Precisely on June 27, she will be launching her first gospel album titled “You Are Worthy” at the church premise.

Speaking to The Guardian Mrs Okonkwo said the music is all about what God has done, still doing and will do in future. On what motivated her, she said that it is the love and mercy of God.

“I am familiar with singing especially gospel music. For almost 23 years now, I have putting a lot in singing and church engagements. I have the talent and flair to serve my God through singing, preaching and doing His word. I have the calling and I am fulfilling it by coming up with an album in His Name.

” She said: “I will sincerely say that I am blessed because the support from God, my husband, children, in-laws, siblings has been tremendous and overwhelming. All I have to say is Thank You Lord.’
