Music industry needs support from government

According to Director Sales FMCG Distribution Limited, Mr. Prem Prakash, karaoke music industry in Nigeria is untapped. He called on stakeholders and government to harnessed genre to boost employment, tourism and attract huge revenues.He made the call at Brizz Lounge Lekki Lagos, venue for the Karaoke Challenge. He noted that karaoke music; culture and businesses are huge revenue generating sectors in some European countries like Finland and India.

“We are excited to support and celebrate some of the creative artistes and contribute our quota to improve the creative sector. Captain Jack brand has provided the platform for new and existing karaoke singers to showcase their skills and talents have fun.

“We are rewarding the winning group, Captain of the gang, with cash prize of N250, 000, while the losing team, Vocals & Vodka will get N150, 000, in addition to consolation gifts. We hope to reciprocate the gesture in the six geo-political area of Nigeria,” he said.

Speaking at the event, the organiser of the karaoke challenge Mr. Ohio Giwa Amu, popularly known as Captain Karaoke, disclosed the that contest was between Lagos popular Karaoke group, Voices & Vodka and Captain of the gang. He disclosed that the criteria for selection for the challenge unique voices of the contestants, adding that he visited 25 bars to select exceptional singers for the challenge.
