It was fun as sounds of Nigeria made music meet shopping at give-away prices amidst exchange of banters, when some of Naija’s celebrities including Presh of the KC Presh fame, Lolo 1 of Wazobia FM, and OTB of Naija FM among others shared their closets at the recently held Share Your Closet (SYC), a charity auction aimed at raising funds through sales of fairly used good quality items to support widows and the less privilege people living in the slums, at St Leo Catholic Church, Ikeja Lagos.

The event which held at the St Leo Catholic Church, Ikeja Lagos, was put together by Qtaby Events an event production/management and artiste management outfit in conjunction with the Jegede Paul Foundation, a non-governmental organisation that focuses on the upliftment of the less privilege through socio-economic development and outreach projects.

In a brief remark about the event, the chief executive officer of Qtaby Events and administrator of Life Fountain Orphanage Home, Victoria Nkong, said the vision behind Share Your Closet is to encourage members of the society who would love to reach out to the widows, and do not have money or do not know how to reach them. This event gives them an avenue to encourage and give support the less privileged.

The SYC is an off spill of Slum Invasion, an annual event by the Jegede Paul Foundation in slum communities in Lagos. The Slum Invasion is a program the Foundation has been doing yearly with celebrities to celebrate with them in slum neighbourhood and sensitise the people of such communities, particularly the youths on the possibility of getting a better life, and help some of them with some skills acquisitions.

She said, “Funds generated from this auction will be directed to the widows who will get grants for small business and skills acquisition empowerment. Items not sold would be donated directly to residents of a slum community in Lagos.”

According to her, the Share Your Closet is an off spill of Jegede Paul Foundation annual Slum Invasion Project, which since 2013 it was established has been involved in widows support programs and the less privilege empowerment.

Other celebrities at the event included N6, Ransome among others who donated items to the auction. 10 widows were selected from the 30 present for an empowerment program, while everyone went home with a package each.

With Lolo 1 and OTB as anchors, it was indeed music meet comedy as Presh thrilled the guest-shoppers with some of his songs that wafted from the giant speakers placed within the
Church compound.
