Nollywood star and Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Victor Ifeanyichukwu Osuagwu began the new year on a higher level, as he was honoured by his community with a chieftaincy title.

The Glo ambassador, who is now a proud chief and one of the few members of the Igwe’s cabinet, was conferred with the prestigious title of Ochibundu 1 of Udo Ancient Kingdom in Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA of Imo State, by HRH Eze MC Ukeje, Udo Abia IV.

The ceremony was hugely attended by colleagues, friends, associates, well-wishers and family members of the revered entertainer, within and outside Nigeria. Popular Igbo musician, Sunny Bobo was in charge of the bandstand at the grand gathering, alongside other eastern-based singers.

Meanwhile, the latest chief in Tinsel town added another achievement to his already filled cap by declaring open his Feed A Child Today (FACT) foundation.  Already registered FACT, which is very dear to the heart of the thespian, donated 15 bags of rice, cash and other items to mothers in his village during the festive period and promised to do more.

Speaking on the development, Osuagwu thanked Eze Ukeje and the entire members of Udo ancient kingdom, for deeming it fit to honour him with a revered chieftaincy title. The Theatre Art graduate of Uniport was also full of appreciation to his colleagues, friends and associates who stormed his community from far and wide to honour him with their esteemed presence.

“It is a great year and I thank God for all the good things happening in my life this 2015. It started with my community honouring me with a chieftaincy title for being a good son and great ambassador of our town, Imo State and indeed, Nigeria. So, please, when next you are addressing me, add ‘Chief’ to my name if you want me to answer or relate properly with you.”

He continued: “I want to specially thank all those that graced the occasion. Another thing I want to really focus on this year is my foundation-Feed A Child Today (FACT). It is my pet project and very dear to my heart. The aim is to help indigent parents feed their children and thus reduce poverty and violence in our society. For a healthy and well-fed child is a plus to the society, while a hungry child is a time bomb waiting to explode in the society. FACT will be formally launched in the next couple of months,” he disclosed.

Osuagwu also called on Nigerians to ensure violence-free general elections, while appealing for peace in the troubled northern Nigerian states under heavy insurgents’ attacks.
