Capital F.E.M.I Bids Kennis Music Farewell
R’N’B and soul singer, Femi Adeyinka, popularly known by his moniker, Capital F.E.M.I, has left the recording label that brought to fame upon his return to Nigeria. With departure, he joins the roll call of Jaywon, Essence and Minjin, who all recently parted ways with the label that once housed one of Africa’s finest talents, 2face Idibia.
Weekend Beat gathered the contractual agreement with foremost Nigeria music label, Kennis Music expired few months ago and the singer is not signing a renewal. He, however, expressed gratefulness to the label for the huge support given to his career.
Confirming the departure to Weekend Beat in a telephone chat, F.E.M.I said, “there was no beef or whatsoever, it is about life. There comes a time that you need to move on to the next phase in your life. For me the step is about life and the next phase of my career.”
“I owe Kennis Music my respect; they were so supportive of me and my career while I was with the label. The decision about life and the next level of my career; I remain loyal to the label, but life has to move,” he added.
He had earlier hinted about his departure from the label at an event in Lagos, saying he has been working on putting out new materials but was waiting for the appropriate time to do so. “I’m working everyday, but sometimes it is worth the wait to gather yourself to prepare new materials for your fans,” he said.
Asked if there overtures and offers from other record labels, he adds; “there are no overtures or offer from any label for now. There is nothing of such, but if any of comes, we look at what they are bringing to the table.
As part of his new move, F.E.M.I is putting finishing touches to his newest single scheduled for release this month. Also, he has put together new team that will be handling his career.
