Popo Aguda, a community in Lagos Island part of the city of Lagos also known as the Brazilian Quarters, is set to witness its first Easter Musical and Drama Concert tomorrow.

With its mix of Yoruba and Brazilian cultures, the event seeks to take the community and its environs back to their ancient cultures and tradition.

Speaking in a media parley held recently in Lagos, the Convener of the concert, Charles Mendes Bolaji, said the Lagos State University (LASU) Drama Group, Eko Samba Group, and the Popo Aguda Meboi Group (The Bull) would also grace the event.

According to him, it was the desire of the Brazilian Decendants Arts and Culture Association of Popo Aguda, Lagos, the organisers of the event to give back joy, relaxation, comradeship and self-fulfillment to the historical community.

He said: “ We believe that its through arts and culture and especially music that we would bring people back to their roots.

“We choose to host the event in the community to promote the area as a peace community that it is and to get the local content that it would give.”

He noted that local traditional snacks like Kokoro, Shuku Shuku, Kanjika, Ejo Yaya and Eja Eko would be served. He said tables would be sold at N50000, while regular people can pay N2000 to gain access to the Popo Pavilion where the event would hold.

He assured that adequate security measures have been taken to ensure the safety of lives and property of all invited guests and visitors.
