Chocolate City chief and rapper, MI Abaga has officially released his ‘much-anticipated eight-studio album, Yung Denzel, a 10 tracks project and feature guest acts like Tay Iwar, Cina Soul, Niyola, Odunsi the Engine, Patricxxlee and Lady Donli.

The album, which was released in the early hours of Friday, August 24, generated and still generating excitement among fans and music buffs. Tagged: ‘A Study on Self Worth’, the new project is assumed to be a defining one for the rapper, where he sheds his scales and allow his vulnerability as a human take center stage.

The album tracklist include, Do you know who you are featuring Tay Iwar. The song opens with Iwar’s soothing vocals and the drums build slowly underneath as he asks where is your worth?MI made his entrance in the second verse in a philosophical way, asking intriguing questions, pointing a finger at the black man. A voice comes up, touching on two major issues — identity crisis and psychological hopelessness. ‘’Until we hate racism more than we hate each other, nothing is going to change,” the voice says.

Next is Last Night I Had A Dream About A Hummingbird. Again a voice talking, this time touching on comparing yourself, “I don’t have anything to prove to anyone,” the voice said.MI has been debated as the greatest Nigerian rapper ever, but some argue that he no longer plays at the level he did when he released his first set of projects. He step up the game with You Rappers Should Fix Up Yor Lives, his previously released single, which generated a number of controversies and bucket load of replies when it first came out, it is fair to say that his words have aged quite well. ‘’I can’t retire yet, who gonna fix the environment?’’ the rapper asked.

Committed to the growth and development of the Nigeria music industry, MI addressed the prevailing issue in the industry in the track, Another Thing, Do Not Be A Groupie. With a solid beat behind his voice, he called out those jumping from one record label to the label, saying: “For Niggas to get ahead, they giving cunningling us.”

Up next is Stop! Never Second Guess Yourself featuring Cina Soul. The rapper in this track surfaced on rendezvous, this time speaking on self-confidence.Away from hardcore, MI in You Are Like Melody, My Heart Skips A Beat featuring Lorraine Chia, bring to fore the lover boy side to his persona, but Lorraine Chia ‘killed’ the song with her melodious vocal. In positive, negative (+-) MI team up with two new talents, Odunsi, who he had previously worked with on his Rendezvous playlist and Lady Donli. He shares his journey from when he started rapping.

With a bubbly beat, MI in I Believe In You, You Should Too, Believe In You encourages the listener to believe in his or her self, boasting about the achievements of Chocolate City in the last 10 years.

Up next is The Self Evaluation of Yxng Denzel. In this track the Choc City head honcho teams up with former Da Trybe member, Niyiola, who is making a return after a long hiatus. The song starts with vocals from MI’s mother, issuing words of advice to her son. MI follows with his dark, twisted, real fantasies as all he wants to do is, drink, smoke, chill, party all day’.

He admits to so many things on the song and Niyola provides the right shoulders for him to lean on with her soothing voice. On a final note, the rapper in Love Never Fails featuring Tay Iwar and Patrickxxlee, allows the young stars to flourish as they talk about someone wanting to kill herself.
