40 contestants shortlisted for ‘Miss Curvy Africa’ reality TV

Forty beauty queens from across Africa have been selected out of 5000 entries and 3500 video for the second edition of ‘Miss Curvy Africa’ reality TV show tagged, ‘Our Tradition, Our Pride’.

Forty beauty queens from across Africa have been selected out of 5000 entries and 3500 video for the second edition of ‘Miss Curvy Africa’ reality TV show tagged, ‘Our Tradition, Our Pride’.

Speaking at the official announcement, beauty judge and former winner of Big Bold Queen, Patience Columbus, said 15 professional judges did carry out the task of auditioning and screening of the contestants in Lagos.

She listed some of the criteria for selection as body figure, poise, confidence, self-esteem, intelligence and emotional quotations. Other criteria include African cultural heritage, intellectual soundness and accommodating nature. Columbus disclosed that after screening the candidates, they selected the 40 who would make it to the house, which would be aired on Spice TV.

Another pageant judge and Chief Executive Officer, Makiba, Shelly Ogbuse, described pageantry as a huge foreign exchange earner and employment generator for any country. To her, the reality TV show promotes African love and unity and empowers and projects the voices of beautiful and curvy ladies in the beauty industry.

BBNaija technical director, Clement Cletus, said the project aims to appreciate African beauties and to let the world know that the people are all talented in different ways. lbitayo Buhari, Co-founder and Executive Producer, disclosed that the winner would smile home with the star prize of $1000 business empowerment fund, an official car, a movie, modeling deal and brand ambassadorship deal.

Airing on Spice TV Africa, Soundcity, ONTV, Try Best and CheqTV, she said they’re also partnering with Studio 24 Nigeria. Judges include the Founder, Miss Curvy Africa reality TV show/Iconic Award, Olamide Silver, Mr. Barret, Rita Osusu. Others are Miss Amanda, Fred Ogemede, Alfred Omongbale and Sunday Ibraheem.
