COMMITTED to making the Nigerian Entertainment Industry Health Trust Fund (NEIHTF) have a successful kick off and its institutionalisation, organisers of the Nigerian Entertainment Industry Health Insurance Scheme (NEIHIS) has appointed notable Nigerian stars in the music and comedy industry as Goodwill ambassadors and will be unveiled to the public in phases.

Some of the stars who have identified with and undergoing enrolment procedures to NEIHIS have been involved in the shooting of Public Service Announcements (PSA) for the scheme. The PSAs are meant to feature prominently on partner television and radio stations with a view to educating practitioners about the scheme and encourage mass enrollment.

The first four goodwill ambassadors that have featured in the scheme PSAs include Nigeria’s pop icon, 2Face Idibia; DJ Jimmy Jatt; actor, Yemi Solade and comedian, Gbenga Adeyinka, who have made themselves available to join NEIHIS in the institutionalisation of the scheme and finally put an end to avoidable deaths and other health challenges enveloping the entertainment industry.

According to the promoters of the scheme, other sets of ambassadors will be unveiled in phases in the month of February. Speaking about the scheme, the ambassadors described it as a deliberate attempt to safeguard the lives of the practitioners in the entertainment industry and restore the industry’s credibility, put an end to public begging and avoidable deaths.

For 2baba, the scheme is a lifesaving initiative and selfless sacrifice for the glory of the industry. Jimmy Jatt and Gbenga Adeyinka who have been part of the process from the beginning expressed their profound joy that the scheme is finally kicking off, while Yemi Solade expressed intense believe that begging for alms when chips are down will no longer be tolerated as the scheme is meant to eradicate all of that.

The Nigerian Entertainment Industry Health Insurance Scheme (NEIHIS) is a private health insurance scheme with customised plans specifically for the entertainment industry. It is an initiative of Nigerian Entertainment Industry Lecture Series (NEILS) in partnership with National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
