Upbeat Swing For COSON Week 2015

All is now set for the much-publicised COSON Week 2015 organised by the Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON). The seven days of explosive events over seven venues in Lagos, will begin this Sunday, at the KICC Prayer Dome, Maryland, Lagos with COSON In the Church, designed as a big national day of prayer and invocation to the Almighty.

The plush red carpet event will have on stage Nigeria’s most celebrated gospel singers and some of the most respected ministers of the gospel in the country. Among the many stars expected to thrill the audience are reggae gospel crooner Buchi, the sweet singing star, Chidinma, Prince of the Delta, Asu Ekiye, Sonorous voiced Frank Edwards and Princess of the Gospel, Ann Inyang. According to COSON Chairman Chief Tony Okoroji, “We promised Lagosians an incredibly spectacular week. Our word is our bond. Tell everybody that we are ready to keep our promise. We have burnt the midnight oil and for the seven days, all systems are ready to go.”

On Monday, November 2, COSON Lecture will take place at the Banquet Hall, Sheraton Hotel, Lagos, with Prof Bankole Sodipo, founding President, Intellectual Property Law Association of Nigeria (IPLAN), billed to deliver a paper on Intellectual Property Rights in the Digital Economy. A star-studded panel made up of the masked singer, Lagbaja; Hon Desmond Elliot, the ‘A’ list actor; Mr. Audu Maikori, President Chocolate City Group and Mr. Raymond Mgbeokwere, Head, Legal Services at Nigeria’s biggest bank, First Bank, will also discuss on the subject.    

Day three of the celebration will see COSON on the Street, with a rainbow of stars, who will give meaning to the dignity of labour, as they clean the streets, control traffic and give alms to the needy with a party on the move over the streets of Lagos. The train will be flagged off by 10 am, at the National Theatre, Iganmu, with top music stars and will take Eko Bridge, pass through the Marina and will be seen by fans in Ikoyi, Victoria Island, Lekki and Ajah, where a major open are throw down will take place. This event is open to the general public free of charge.
 
On Wednesday, the COSON Green Ball, an exquisite evening of music and fine dining for the crème de la crème of Nigeria, will take centre stage at the Shell Hall of MUSON Center Onikan, in support of the COSON Music Foundation, the non-profit trust in support of indigent Nigerian musicians and musicians in distress. Green Carpet begins at 6.30 pm and the show will be chaired by Senator (Princess) Florence Ita-Giwa.

The COSON All Stars Table Tennis Blow-Out is billed for Thursday, at the Multipurpose Hall of Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere. It will be an amazing spectacle at the battle on the table by the big stars of Nigerian music, movies, comedy and their cheering friends and fans as they serve, return, cut, spin, smash and loop. Among the many stars, who will do the battle on the board are MC Galaxy, Akpororo, Timi Dakolo, Reekardo Banks, Skales, Emeka Smith, D’Lyte, etc. Others who have just joined the battle include Jaywon, Masterkraft, CDQ, Dipp, Kas, Tekno, Konga, Righteosman, Y Q and others.

On Friday, the COSON Song Awards will be staged, with the likes of Kiss Daniel, Jude, Peter & Paul Okoye (P-Square), Davido, Omawummi, Orezi, Cobhams, Timi Dakolo, Asa, Dare Art Alade, Sheyi Shay, Tiwa Savage, Di’ Ja, Frank Edwards, Eben, Joe Praize, BOUQUI, Mc Galaxy, lil Kesh, Olamide, Tekno Miles, M. I., Phyno, Vector the Viper, Ice Prince, Korede Bello, Simi & Falz, Harry Song, Don Jazzy, Yemi Alade, Wizkid, 2 Face Idibia, Patoranking, Flavour, Runtown, Chidinma and Dr. Sid as top nominees. The Master of Songs Award, a lifetime achievement award will also be presented to juju music superstar and master composer, Ebenezer Obey for his contribution to the music industry.  

COSON will storm the beach on Saturday, November 7, with galaxy of stars. The spectacular open-air beach concert will also play host to thousands of music fans and will be the Grand Finale for COSON Week 2015. Majek Fashek, alongside his group, Prisoner of Conscience 911, is leading an armada of 100 of Nigeria’s topmost stars, including Vector the Viper, Chidinma, Ras Kimono, Baba Dee, Ycee, Chuddy K, Young Grace, Adekunle Gold, Joel, Show Dem Camp, Solid Star and others, for a show never to be forgotten at Atican Beach Resort, off Abraham Adesanya Estate, Ajah.

Billed to commence from 2pm till dawn, tickets for the event are available at ariiyatickets.com and vendors across Lagos.

“It is clear that there is nothing anywhere else like the COSON Week, the week of non-stop excitement, spectacle and fun,” Okoroji said.
