Two students from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Akoka, Tejumade Adeyinka (Economics) and Sunkanmi Aladenaye (Engineering) have launched a portal, Streem to ease parents the troubles of searching for relevant story and textbooks for their children and wards.

Speaking at the launch, Adeyinka disclosed that Streem is a service delivery network designed to meet the needs of busy parents, the elderly and all those who may not have the time to visit bookshops to get the necessary recommended text and inspirational books for their children.

According to her, the network would enable parents place orders for available books, mostly for pupils in primary and secondary schools and they would be delivered to them at their homes.

On how Streem’s services works, Adeyinka, said, “potential customers are to send a message to streemng@gmail.com complete with a list of books they want and they would be sent an invoice and a price list to enable them make a purchase. Approving the list, the parties would agree on delivery location and mode of payment, which could be cash on delivery, online transfer, full payment before delivery or half payment before delivery.’’

Speaking on what motivated the establishment, she said: “When I was in secondary school, I was usually given a list of books for a new session and my mom had all the time in the world to look for ways to get them from different bookshops. Some of my classmates were not so lucky. Right now, every parent is on the move and one hardly has a stay-at-home mom or dad anymore. We recognise this, so, we decided to introduce to parents a faster and more convenient ways to get books for their children and have these books delivered at their doorsteps.’’
