The Nigeria Export Community has lost a leading light and a pathfinder.I still can’t get over the fact that Engr. Tunde Oyelola has passed on. This is because on the day he died, we had telephone conversations thrice and exchanged SMS once. In fact, his son, Tola confirmed to me that from his call-log, I was the last person he spoke with on the phone.

I requested for a favour and typical of him, he assured me it would be done. He went further to furnish me contact details of the gentleman that he saddled with the responsibility of helping me.

He sent me an SMS at 7:58pm. saying: “Bala, let me know when I can reach you in respect of your daughter. “My regards” From this, I made contact with him and he promised to send me the contact details. At exactly 8.57 pm, I received the information via an SMS.I returned with an SMS “Tanks sir”.

I never knew that would be the last time I would make contact with him. Death, is indeed, cruel!Oyelola has a personality, which seemed larger than life. He was very caring, kind-hearted, a great patriot and a visionary leader.

His commitment to the development of Export Business and Advocacy in Nigeria was total. The Nigeria Export community will miss him greatly.May the Almighty Father, faithfully grant him eternal rest. May He grant his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

As William Shakespeare said: “If we meet again ….. Then we shall smile…..But if not….This parting is well made.”Adieu! Adieu! Adieu MANEG Chairman.
