DETAIL Yacht race lights up Lagos

It was an exciting moment for tourists, especially lovers of water sports, as Detail Commercial Solicitors (DETAIL), an enterprising Lagos law firm, staged the maiden edition of sailing competition dubbed DETAIL Pursuit Race.

It was an exciting moment for tourists, especially lovers of water sports, as Detail Commercial Solicitors (DETAIL), an enterprising Lagos law firm, staged the maiden edition of sailing competition dubbed DETAIL Pursuit Race.

Held last Saturday at the Lagos Yacht Club, Onikan, Lagos, the competition, which was graced by special dignitaries, especially clients of the law firm, also attracted members of the Lagos Yacht Club, who joined in the race.

In all, 24 boats comprising nine Lightning, 11 Hobie, and four Mixed Monohull, participated in race, which produced winners in different categories, who were awarded trophies for their commendable performances on the water. It was cheers all the way for the winners, particularly especially Eddie Avy and Gabriel Hunsa, who emerged the overall winners of the maiden edition of DETAIL Pursuit Race.

Other top winners in the different categories included Henk Wymenga and Onne Van Wyde who came first in the Mixed Monohull Class category, Marc Coakley and Pauline Voyeau, who displaced others to win in the Hobie Class Category, while Robert Bal and Martijn Bekke emerged winners in the Lightning Class category.

On the rationale behind the sponsorship of the race, Ayuli Jemide, Lead Partner, DETAIL, who presented the trophies, said the law firm was pleased to support the Lagos Yacht Club’s sailing activities and also give back by sponsoring the race.

Jemide also assured the leadership of the club of the company’s commitment at making the DETAIL Pursuit Race a yearly event.Excited over the successful hosting of the maiden race, David Kruyt, Commodore, Lagos Yacht Club, commended DETAIL for sponsoring the race, while looking forward to a continued partnership. He encouraged more Nigerians for participating in boat yachting, thereby beefing up the membership of the club from its 70 per cent foreign and 30 per cent Nigerian ratio.

Besides the exciting activities on water, the boat race witnessed live music amid food and drinks at the club, where the sponsored showered guests with branded goodies.

Emmanuel Katepa, one of the clients of the law firm, described the race as a unique platform for unwinding, networking and furthering the cordial relationship that exist between his organisation and DETAIL.

“This is unique and beyond the usual Corporate Social Responsibility. For me, DETAIL has taken another bold step even outside the confines of the very busy corporate environment to a more relaxing and most-friendly place I have ever been to in Lagos,” excited Katepa said. 

Charles Ojo, another client of Detail Commercial Solicitors, noted that there is no other way to appreciate and even woo clients than such a wonderful outing in one of the finest and exclusive places in Lagos. According to him, the law firm, which is known for excellence, surpassed the expectations of the clients at the event.

“This exclusive event has emboldened my company to further sustain it business relationship with Detail Commercial Solicitors. It has been an exciting weekend outing on water. I am considering joining the race next year because the Lead Partner has assured on sustenance of the event,” Ojo said.
