Sir Henry Olujimi Boyo (1948-2019) …Renowned businessman and newspaper columnist

Sir Henry Olujimi Boyo was born into the illustrious Boyo family of Warri, Delta State on February 9, 1948. He attended the Children’s Home School in Ibadan and commenced his secondary education at Igbobi College, Yaba, Lagos.

He completed his secondary education at Dulwich College-a private boarding school in London. Following this, he graduated with a B.Sc. degree in Economics from the University of London in 1973, and a Masters’ degree (M.Sc) in Administrative Science from the City University of London in 1974. He returned to Nigeria in 1975.

Sir Henry Boyo worked with UAC International in London. On his return to Nigeria, he worked with Kingsway-Chemists as Sales Manager, and later Contracts Manager. He quickly rose to the position of Plant Coordinator for A. J Seward, a division of UACN Limited, in Oregun, Lagos. Sir Boyo left UAC in 1981 to pursue entrepreneurial interests leading to his present-day success as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Allied Technol Systems Limited and Abel Sell Limited, which are engaged in manufacturing as well as industrial logistics support.

Cocosheen and Frizz table water is prominent brand names of these companies. Allied Technol Systems Limited provides superior logistics and technical support to multinational companies as well as several operators in the Small and Medium Enterprises sub-sector.

Sir Boyo received a Church Honorific Award of Knight of John Wesley from the Methodist Church Nigeria in Lagos in the year, 2013. He was Chairman of Cosmetics Manufacturers and Ethics Association (COSMEAN) of Nigeria; he was also the Honourable Treasurer of the Ikeja Chapter of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN).

Sir Boyo has written over 500 articles on the Nigerian economy since 2004, published in credible and reputable print media. He was also a regular commentator on both radio and television on matters pertaining to the growth and development of the Nigerian economy through the employment of more effective monetary policies.

He authored the Economic Renaissance column in the Monday editions of The Punch newspaper and the Rational Perspectives column in Monday editions of the Vanguard newspaper. He received the Nigeria Media Merit Award (NMMA) for best columnist for the year in 2012. He was the publisher of Cosmetics and Beauty Magazine, as well as the Niger Delta News when it was in circulation.

Sir Boyo was a member of the Olu-in-Council, Warri, the highest policy and decision-making body in Warri Kingdom. He was Chairman, of the Mayday Samaritan Foundation supported by Lipoid Stiftung Foundation. He was a member of the Fundraising Committee of the Proposed University of Warri, Obitugbo.

A devout Christian, Sir Boyo passed away suddenly on November 18, 2019. He leaves behind his dear wife, V.Rev (Mrs) Magdalene Boyo, children and grandchildren.
