Remembering Temidayo Oluyele Bademosi: A quintessential medical practitioner (1957-2010)

Dr. Temidayo Oluyele Bademosi was born on August 14, 1957, as the fourth child to Mr. Benjamin Agboola Bademosi and Mrs. Abigail Omosajuola Bademosi (nee Adeloye), of Ondo West Local Council of Ondo State. He died on March 6, 2010, at the age of 53.

He was the Founder and Medical Director of Zoe Specialist Mission Hospital, Ibadan, Oyo State. He attended Bishop Philips Memorial Primary School, Ondo (1964 – 1969) and St. Joseph’s College, Ondo (1970 – 1974). He proceeded to the Federal Government College, Ilorin (1974 -1976) for his ‘A’ levels.

He, thereafter, studied Medicine at the University of Ibadan (1976-1981).
After his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at the Lagos City Council (1982 to 1983), he worked at Full House Medical Centre, Ibadan with his elder brother, Dr. Kunle Bademosi between 1984 and 1990, before establishing Zoe Specialist Mission Hospital in 1990.

He was a Fellow of the Association of General Practitioners of Nigeria (F.A.G.P.) and a Justice of Peace (JP) of Oyo State, South West Nigeria. He served in various organisations and held various professional, administrative and religious positions including: Chairman, Board of Governors, Juniors International Nursery and Primary School, Ibadan; Chairman, Board of Governors, Christ Ambassadors International College, Ibadan; National Director, Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International, Nigeria;

Co-National Presenter of a TV Programme called The Happiest People on Earth; International Director, Well of Salvation Ministries (Mission Agency), Ibadan; Head, Medical Missions Team, Well of Salvation Ministries among others.

Bademosi was included in the contemporary Who’s Who Of American Biography Institution U.S.A., nominated Man of the Year 2003 by the American Biographical Institution U.S.A. and awarded the World Medical Honour for Superior Achievement and Contribution to Society.

He married former Miss Lily Jogho, a broadcaster with BCOS Television and Radio on August 10, 1985 at St. James Cathedral, Anglican Communion, Oke-Bola, Ibadan. The marriage was blessed with five children: four girls and a boy, Dayo, Damilola, Dasola, Yele (Jr.) and Dolapo.

He was a minister at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Premier Parish, Ibadan and was the Pioneer Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, He Reigns Parish, Ondo.

He was the International Director of Well of Salvation Ministries, (a mission agency) and organised medical outreaches in several cities and villages to reach the unreached with the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Later in his life, he was led to go back to his home/family church, where he was born, baptised, confirmed and got married: the Anglican Communion. Particularly, he served God faithfully in the Anglican Church of the Messiah, Bodija Ibadan. He was very active in the Men’s Forum and the church at large, until his call to glory. He was humble both to the old and the young and was indeed, a rallying point to all.

He loved praises, no wonder he tagged every celebration of his birthday, “evening of praise”

He was also active in the Landlords / Tenants Association, Oluyole Estate, Zone 1.

Bademosi was approachable and friendly and interacted freely with his neighbours and was always working for the progress of the neighbourhood.
As Board Chairman of schools, he nurtured and worked tirelessly for the growth of the institutions.

He was a man of the people and widely travelled.

Meanwhile, Zoe Specialist Mission Hospital has continued to cater for thousands of patients every year and running specialist clinics. This led to an expansion with the commissioning of the annex building in 2017.

Also, Dr. Temidayo Oluyele Bademosi Dialysis Centre, Oluyole Estate was founded in his honour on March 6, 2011. Dr ‘Yele Bademosi as he was generally called, was an enabler and a man with a large heart. His memories live on in the hearts of his family, friends and associates.
