If cinemagoers have been heading to the cinemas to see Mad About You, the new romantic comedy by movie director, Victor Okpala, it is because it is interesting and offers a good laugh that is sauced with intrigues.

It would also be because Okpala pulled a cast that gave the movie an insight into the life of celebrities on and off cameras, its acting credits.

The spotlight is on the leading man- Blossom Chukwujekwu- and some of the leading ladies- Anne Idibia, Chinyere Wilfred, Linda Osifo and Ifu Ennada, who, by the delightful interpretation of their roles, made the movie tick.

Blossom Chukwujekwu
Blossom Chukwujekwu is the leading actor in Mad About You and the Anambra State native, who studied Mass Communication at the Benson Idahosa University in Benin, Edo State, showed stuff as Dami, the A-list actor caught between keeping his relationship with Nkechi, to whom he is engaged, and settling for a new ‘catch,’ Cynthia.

From start to close, Blossom appeared steady and gave a performance cinemagoers described as believable and engaging.

A recipient of the 2015 African Magic Viewers Choice crest for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Knocking On Heavens Door, the busy actor, who credits the writer, producer and actor, Lucky Ejim and Victor Nkwonta, for sparking up his passion for acting, and who named Richard Mofe Damijo, Desmond Elliot, Ramsey Nouah and Rita Dominic as some of his screen role models, has had a couple of gripping performances in movies, such as Mitchell Bello’s Flower Girl, Private Storm, Cobra, The Visit and A Place Called Happy.

The actor, who said he is easily attracted to God-fearing, disciplined, focused, humble and hardworking people, has also featured on the credit list of television series and soaps, such as Tinsel, MTVBASE’s HIV themed, Shuga, Greg Odutayo’s My Mum and I, About to Wed and Married and in the Telenovella, Taste of Love.

Chinyere Winfred
Victor Okpala got a dependable actress of the old stock, Chinyere Wilfred, to feature in the movie, and the beautiful mother of three didn’t disappoint at all. She showed stuff and proved that the older you get in the business, the more control you have over whatever role you are assigned to interprete.

An entrepreneur and philanthropist, the Anambra State native, who has put in close to 25 years as a screen actress in Nollywood, studied Computer Science at Lagos State Polytechnic.

Her journey on screen began on television when she featured in Ripples, the long running soap, but rested television soap by Zeb Ejiro.

Her first movie appearance was in the Igbo language movie of epic proportion, Taboo. This was in 1993. Mostly cast as the queen mother, a good mother and humble wife in movies, the mother and wife, who said she may have featured in over 200 movie productions, has since her debut movie production in 1993 remained relevant in the industry as butter is to bread.

In her very loaded movie pouch are movies like Final Clash, Obligation, Polygamy, Oh Mother, Child Of Mystery and Range Rover Babes.

Ifu Ennada

Ifu Ennada
Ifu Ennada is on the cast list of the romantic comedy. Trust Ifu to deliver, and she did, like she delivered in Obsession, produced by Judith Audu for Iroko Production, and Tears of A Broken Virgin, a short film she signed as producer.

An actress with a stunning range, who has been having a steady ride up her acting and filmmaking career after that intense outing in C.J Obasi’s O’Town, Ifu, who had a shot at the Big Brother Nigeria (BBN) reality show, has continued to interpret roles delightfully and samba well, on and off-screen.

Born in Lagos in the early 1990s to both parents from Abia State, Ifu, who undoubtedly has her eyes on the summit, studied Computer Science at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye in Ogun State.

Linda Osifo
Fast rising actress and television host, Linda Adesuwa Osifo, who has been having a good run in Nollywood since her debut acting role in 2012, shone like a start she is in Mad About You.

Born in Benin City, the Edo State capital, but spent most of her adult life in Canada, Linda, who obtained a degree in Psychology from York University in Toronto, Canada, kicked off her acting career with a role in Ikechukwu Onyeka’s Family Secrets shot in New Jersey, United States (US).

She returned to Nigeria after graduate school and starred in Nonso Emekewe’s King Akabueze. The pretty actress has since gone on to feature in a couple of television and movie productions, including Tinsel, Jimeji, Yesterday, The Dark Box, Desperate Housewives Africa, Hidden Truth, Hit and Run, Uncomplicated and Flip Side.

Annie idibia
Model and presenter, Anne Idibia, best known as wife of the afro-pop singer, Innocent Idibia, aka Tuface, with whom she has two children, studied Computer Science and Theatre Arts, has had a fairly good run as an actress.

The runner-up at the ‘Queen Of All Nations Beauty Pageant’ hit the right notes as an actress after she featured in Pleasure And Crime and Blackberry Babes, two Nollywood movies that were well received.

A recipient of the 2016 African Entertainment Legend Awards in the fast rising actress category, Anne’s other acting credits include Unconditional, Beautiful Monster, Morning After Dark, White Chapel and Return Of Blackberry Babes.
