Premium beer brand, Gulder hosted young Nigerians to a delightful session at the Social Media Week 2019. The panel discussion, which was themed Owning Your Journey to success, had the likes of Oreka Godis, and Ex BBNaija winner Uti Nwachukwu sharing their thoughts on the key strategies to owning your journey in the age of social media.

Also on the panel was Gulder brand manager, Kolawole Akintimehin and Media manager for Nigerian Breweries Plc., Toheeb Azeez who shared their insights on the new media space and encouraged young Nigerians to remain inspired in their quest for success.

The session kicked off with Brand manager, Kolawole Akintimehin reiterating the new brand positioning of “Own Your Journey”. This featured short behind the scenes videos from the recent photoshoot by renowned photographer Kelechi Amadi Obi, for the “Own Your Journey” campaign.

Moderating the panel was renowned OAP, writer, producer and actress, Oreka Godis, who gracefully stirred the conversations, touching subjects such as self-esteem, parental pressure, social media trolling as well as the tricks to being the master of your craft.

Uti Nwachukwu, who has had a remarkable career in Nigerian media, had some wise words for the teeming audience who were clearly delighted to see the past winner of Big Brother Africa share some of his secrets to success. This included tales from his time as a budding presenter, as well as his reason for keeping his circle of friends small.

Also sharing some insights and tips was musician, model, and actor, Nonso Bassey who made the shocking revelation that he was extremely scared to chase his dreams due to his family upbringing. Nonso whose rise to prominence included an impressive run at the music talent show – The Voice also shared his experience on owning your originality on social media.

“Some people’s brands are like Cardi B, who is very expressive and shares a lot of her life on social media, while others are like Beyonce who prides herself in being very private, showing only what she wants you to see. You have to know your personality, know your brand and own it.” – He remarked.

Adding to the conversation, Gulder Brand Manager, Kolawole Akintimehin, spoke of the importance of every young person seeing themselves as a brand. He further stated that to achieve one’s journey to success, realistic and measurable goals have to be set and followed through meticulously.

This sentiment was echoed by Toheeb Azeez who closed the session with an inspiring call to all young people to own their journeys, else others will decide their paths for them.

Speaking after the panel discussion, Kola Akintimehin spoke of the reasoning behind this session by Gulder.

“As a brand, it is imperative that we continue to evolve. We recognize that as young people, we all are on a path towards becoming successful. We want to be part of that journey, celebrating you all the way. This thinking was what informed our decision to organize this panel discussion at the social media week, so we can bring our core messaging closer to home and share this new brand position with our young consumers. All whilst inspiring these young minds to go out and take their destinies in their hands, as they go on their quest to achieve their dreams.”
