Singer Y19 drops Iwofa Lenu

Fast-rising hip-hop musician, Yinka Adebayo, with stage name Y19, has released a new single titled Iwofa lenu. He expressed plans to make a video in no distant time.

The artiste, whose stage name was coined from the first letter of his name and his date of birth, said his new single, Iwofa Lenu, which means ‘your opinion about me doesn’t count,’ was birthed by his decision to ignore critics.

He said his passion for music began at age 14 after Wizkid came to limelight. The Jaiye crooner, who has dropped 10 singles, said his music has evolved over the years having improved his skills. Some of his singles are Jaiye, Lara, Benz, Tinko and others.

According to him, his major challenge has been promoting his songs and record label called Blackface Entertainment.

The 24-year-old musician said he took a break to finish his education, as he couldn’t record songs due to time constraints.

The law graduate, who identifies his genre as Afropop, expressed his desire to have collaborations.

He however explained that his kind of the music, would determine who is fit to work with.

He expressed his desire to work with producers like Shizzy and Don Jazzy, while his musical influencers are Dbanj and King Sunny Ade.

Y19 said his lyrics are the distinguishing factor. “My next plan is to make a video. I write my lyrics like a poem. I can’t mention names of the artiste I would have collaborations with. I will allow the sound of the music determine who is appropriate,” he added.
