You can have everything you want in life if you would just help other people get what they want, who in turn would help you get yours. That is the entire premise upon which How to win Friends and Influence People, is built.

The volume is one of the best-selling motivational books of all time. Of the myriad ways of getting others to be both financially and emotionally invested in you and your goals we have treated, developing appropriate skills; doing what you truly care about; becoming an expert in your chosen vocation and surrounding yourself with your mastermind group, who would always remind you of your future, because they have a stake in it.

President Donald John Trump’s coach, advised you: “Don’t join an easy crowd; you won’t grow. Go where the expectations and the demands to perform are high.” You don’t have to wait till you get a college degree or after you are financially secure before starting to live your dream. If you are under 40, you should be taking big risks. The younger you are, the more time you have to fail.

You are shaped by your environment. The best way to become who you want to be is by surrounding yourself with people who are already there and not with people who aren’t going there.

Immerse yourself with the culture, thinking and behaviour of those you aspire to be like. Those are the people, your fellow travellers, who would soon become heavily invested in you and who will take your ideas and help you bring them to reality. They will make you realise your goal.

Invest in mentorship to enable you gain helpers. For you to become successful, you have to invest in yourself. This, you do by getting the knowledge you need to find your unique factor in life. When you find your niche, focus on it and persevere, your success would blossom.

Demand creates supply. When you make a demand, the universe conspires to supply. You do this by investing money on relationships. Hire a top-notch publicist for governorship campaign in your state for a lump sum of money, thereby making him your friend and mentor.

You don’t need much money to hire mentors; you can start by being an employee of the one you are emulating. You can do free labour for those you wish to learn from.

The next step is to transform the mentorship into a relationship beneficial to yourself and others. Then focus all your energy, money and skills on your goals. You can give without loving, but you cannot love without giving. Small investments lead to huge gains. Winning boosts your confidence. You can have everything you want by giving your life to others. As Jesus Christ said: “You find your life by losing it.”

When you are investing in others, you are investing on yourself. Quantum leaps and exponential growth are available only in collaboration. You must be emotionally attached to others before they can help you triumph.
