It is a fitting and heart-warming romantic story for the season. It is titled Royal Hibiscus Hotel (RHH) and it is yet another engaging offering from the stable of EbonyLife Films, which together with its partners, FilmOne, Inkblot and Koga Entertainment, are still celebrating their record-breaking Nollywood box office reign as producers of The Wedding Party 2: Destination Dubai.

RHH opens in cinemas from February 9, in time for Valentine’s Day celebrations.

Set in Lagos and London, RHH tells the story of a passionate Nigerian chef, Ope, following her dream of opening an African restaurant in London.

Frustrated by her lack of progress, she returns to Nigeria and discovers that going home can bring pleasant surprises.

Directed by Ishaya Bako and successfully screened at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), the cast of RHH includes Zainab Balogun, Kenneth Okolie, Deyemi Okanlawon, Kemi ‘Lala’ Akindoju and O.C. Ukeje, with veteran actors, such as Rachel Oniga, Jide Kosoko, Olu Jacobs and Joke Silva.

Executive Producer of the movie, Mo Abudu, was thrilled that RHH is being shown to audiences in Nigeria, adding: “The Royal Hibiscus Hotel has been a special project. It is a beautiful story of love, sprinkled with delightful comedic moments.

“We hope it resonates with the young and young-at-heart and reminds them of what it is like to fall in love.”

An additional source of enjoyment for moviegoers would be the RHH soundtrack, which features a score by award-winning musician, Cobhams Asuquo, and songs by leading Nigerian artistes, including Romeo and Juliet by Johnny Drille; Chemistry by Falz and Simi; Skintight by Mr. Eazi and Tonight; Ocean and Radio by Nonso Amadi.

The cinema release of February 9 would follow an exclusive premiere in Lagos tomorrow, February 4.
