Akwa Ibom State government has reiterated its commitment to partner the Emem Isong-led Royal Arts Academy in a bid to support and promote indigenous talents and to further boost the entertainment industry in the state.

The state government made this commitment through the Honourable Commissioner for Information Sir Charles Udoh.
The commissioner spoke at the official launch of the Uyo Campus of the Royal Arts Academy.

At the ceremony attended by top government functionaries and captains of the industry, the commissioner reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to walk in tandem in raising the bar for the entertainers as well as encourage indigenous talents in the state.

In her speech at the occasion, the writer, filmmaker and Chief Executive Officer of the Academy Emem Isong Misodi disclosed that she started the academy over a decade and a half in Lagos to train a new crop of Nollywood actors, producers, directors and writers.

She said: “ I am proud to say that many of our students in our Lagos campus have distinguished themselves in their various fields. I am also proud to say that today the academy has grown into a unique film school accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), which makes it possible for all our students to get recognized qualification.’’

There were goodwill messages from the Inoyo Toro Foundation, who as the filmmaker revealed have over the years keyed into the lofty vision of the academy. High point of the launch ceremony which attracted guest from within and outside the industry including Moses Armstrong, Moses Eskor and a senior lecturer at the Department of Mass Communication, Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Dr. Udeme Nnana, was drama presentation by students of the academy and a musical performance by popular xylophonist, Udo Mariam.
