English romantic poet, John Keats, once wrote that a thing of beauty is joy forever. Those who have been privileged to witness the evergreen romance between Reuben Abati and his wife, Iyabo (nee Babalola), would no doubt align with Keats’ position.

Since their chance meeting several decades ago, the duo have played unending orchestra to enduring love. They have sipped the goblet of companionship first as friends and then as a couple and remained intoxicated by it ever since.

Reuben, one-time spokesman to former President Goodluck Jonathan and former chairman of the Editorial Board of The Guardian, is a man with an enviable track record. But all his hardwork could have amounted to little or nothing without the support and patience of Iyabode, whose love and understanding saw him through the tough times.

Little surprise that he did not miss the opportunity to show the world how much she means to him on the occasion of her 50th birthday. To celebrate his wife, Reuben held a big party.

Among notable friends that honoured the event were Dele Momodu, Kunle Bakare, Mayor Akinpelu, Michael Effiong, Kayode Ajala, Biodun Kupoluyi and a host of others.
