Regal touch at afrobeat party for Fela

The New Afrika Shrine, Ikeja, Lagos was recently beehive as fans and lover of Afrobeat, as well as followers of genre progenitor, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, were recently thrilled, as this year’s edition of ‘Afro Beat Party’ held on the bill of foremost gin brand, REGAL Dry Gin, a product by Grand Oak Limited.

The New Afrika Shrine, Ikeja, Lagos was recently beehive as fans and lover of Afrobeat, as well as followers of genre progenitor, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, were recently thrilled, as this year’s edition of ‘Afro Beat Party’ held on the bill of foremost gin brand, REGAL Dry Gin, a product by Grand Oak Limited.

The gig, an annual music concert organised in honour of the Afrobeat legend and world music icon, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, witnessed a lot more excitement this year as the gin brand treated fans and consumers to nights of musical variety and African-inspired cocktails from mixologists at the Regal bar, one of the highlights of this year’s edition, as it added spice to the two-day event.

The 2019 party was indeed an opportunity to celebrate the life and music of revered Abami Eda (Weird one), as many of his fans and up-and-coming artistes had the opportunity to perform some of his iconic songs to the utmost delight of the guests at the shrine.

The two-day event witnessed command musical performances from a variety of Nigerian artistes and also provided a platform for up-and-coming talent to also showcase their talents.

Speaking on the success of the party, General Marketing Manager, Grand Oak, Mridul Sharma said Fela was a phenomenon and his influence on the music scene could not be overlooked and understated as he birthed new genre of music and captivated many hearts locally and internationally, which is why he should be celebrated, especially with such a platform like the Afro Beat Party that allows for people to enjoy musical acts driven by his influence.

On the idea behind the annual event, the Senior Brand Manager, Regal Dry Gin, Basit Arasi said: “Regal Dry Gin is an indigenous brand and so is Afrobeat. We are delighted to be part of such an event that celebrates the life of an originator and man who lived his life to the fullest.”

This event also provided the brand with the opportunity to directly engage and celebrate with our esteemed consumers and also reward their loyalty as we continue to reiterate our commitment to the indigenous music scene in Nigeria,” he added.

He stated that with this year’s Afro Beat party, the brand have gone a step further by including more interactive activities that would serve to bolster the event and create a better experience for fans and consumers.

“This year’s celebration shows that our commitment to supporting the local music scene has not waned, instead it has grown and will continue to grow,” he said.

Asides the thrilling musical performances and African-inspired cocktails, Regal also rewarded loyal consumers at the event with gift prizes ranging from smartphones, TV sets, and lots more.

Guests at the event and lucky winners expressed their appreciation to the organisers of the event for what they described as a befitting recognition of a great music legend.

The Afro Beat Party is more significant amongst other events, owing to the fact that the musical genius, Fela Anikulapo Kuti passed on in August 1997. Following the Afro Beat Party, Regal is now set to follow up with different activities at various cities planned for the remainder of the year.
