Professor Wale Omole at 75

Professor Wale Omole, the Chairman, Editorial Board of The Guardian Newspapers, looked back and appreciated the Living God who had seen him through the past 75 years of his journey in life.

It was also an occasion for him to appreciate the Management of the Guardian Newspapers that gave him the opportunity to serve in his present capacity which he conveyed openly to the Publisher and the Chairman, Lady Maiden Alex Ibru and members of the Editorial board in the Guardian boardroom where he was celebrated: “It is a great opportunity to be associated with The Guardian” he said.

Omole who said his romance with the Flagship started from the days of the former Publisher, Dr. Alex Uruemu Ibru, who according Omole is not dead as he left behind him an organization that has metamorphosed to an institution. He reiterated his commitment to the continued existence of The Guardian and would never support anything that would affect negatively the organization or anything that would reduce the status of The Guardian Newspapers as the ‘Flagship’.

One time the Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo, Omole exemplified ‘humility’ as a virtue that has been sustaining him in life as he relived the prayers taught him by his mother that had continued to guide him till today, that he should constantly pray to God for him not to be self important and also always pray that money would never matter to him because there is nothing anyone would become in life that has not been approved by God. Hence, in all ways, anyone who wants to be successful in life must always co-operate with God.

Omole lauded the spirit of unity among members of the Editorial board who, he said never made the editorial work difficult for him.
