This is not an easy time for founder of the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), Peace Anyiam-Osigwe.

Since the filmmaker and president of the African Film Academy (AFA) was named by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, as Coordinator of the Review and Harmonisation Committee of the draft document of the Motion Picture Practitioners Council of Nigeria, her phones, to quote a close source, “has known no rest.”

It was gathered that the poet and lawyer has been inundated with calls, mostly from those who want to be appointed into the committee inaugurated on April 8.

“They have been insisting on being part of it,” the source said.

Anyway, with the inauguration of the 15-man committee, work has begun on the review of the document that would facilitate the formal establishment of a central body for motion picture practice in Nigeria.
