After a superlative wedding in Benin City, the Edo State capital, and Ile-Ife, Osun State, Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja 11, visited La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort in Ikegun, Lagos last week to celebrate his honeymoon with his newly wedded wife, Olori Wuraola.

It was a grand event, as Ooni was warmly received at the Ekaabo, the reception house of the resort, by its founder and president, Otunba Wanle Akinboboye, who is also founder of Motherland Beckons and presently the Special Adviser on Tourism and Culture to the Ooni.

Given that the Ooni’s wife is from Benin, the royals were treated to a beautifully choreographed traditional Benin dance meant only for the royals.

This lasted for few hours in front of the Ile-Erinmi, where the royal father and his wife retired to later to begin their honeymoon, starting with the cutting of a honeymoon cake.

Ceremonial gunshots from royal palace guards heralded the dawn of a new day, which was Sunday, with the day’s activities spanning late into the night.

This included a spectacular performance by the Elewo Oodua, traditional gong ensemble of the Ooni, ceaselessly chanting melody from their gongs.

This was accompanied by the enchanting female sonorous voices singing the praises of Ooni and his Olori to the delight of all.

The night’s entertainment climaxed with spectacular and enthralling performance of Anu, the Lady Ekwe, also from the Atunda Entertainment stable.

It all ended with a royal bonfire in honour of royal visitors, who later retired to Ile-Oriigi 1, the house on a tree located at the southeast part of the resort, for the night.

Ooni and his Olori no doubt had a fun filled two-day honeymoon in Lagos before returning to their base in Ile-Ife.
