The new movie by Wale Muraina, Street Kids, has received the blessing and endorsement of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.

The child themed movie, which is expected to open in multiple cinemas across the country from May 24, tells a radical story of a young boy, who after all entreaties, could not afford to continue schooling.

The boy later finds himself selling on the street, where fate led him to help a rich kid win a national spelling competition in indigenous language.

Muraina, who led the delegation to the Ooni’s palace, said the Ooni endorsed the movie, aside the message, because it promotes the indigenous language spelling competition established by the monarch.

He stated: “The enthusiasm showed by the Ooni has been overwhelming. What many people do not know is that he is a custodian of Yoruba indigenous culture and he saw the movie as an art form that had the same objectives.

“Apart from projecting the indigenous language competition established by the king, there are numerous messages in the movie for both young and old.”

On his expectation, the producer said he looks forward to a good outing and is optimistic that the movie would start a discussion amongst young people, policy makers, influencers, and government agencies.
