Ondo State set to celebrate Ekimogun festival in December

The Ondo State yearly Ekimogun Festival celebration is set to hold in the first week of December, 2019 to showcase the rich culture and tradition of the people of the land.

The Ondo State yearly Ekimogun Festival celebration is set to hold in the first week of December, 2019 to showcase the rich culture and tradition of the people of the land.

The Chairman of the National Planning Committee, Abiodun Akinjayeju said the Ekimogun Festival has become a unifying celebration for the sons and daughters of the state, both at home and in the diaspora, to show-case the rich culture and tradition of the people of Ondo Kingdom, as well as a rallying point to mobilise funds for community projects development of the state and its suburbs.

He said the week-long activities lined up for this year’s celebrations will feature medical outreach devoted to health awareness, free medical diagnosis and treatment for the citizens, as well as quiz, debate and football competitions amongst schools.

Other activities include exhibition of traditional wears and food fair to show case the rich culture and traditional of the Ondos.

“There will also be the 31st Anniversary Lecture on the topic: “connecting the nexus between youth unemployment, drug abuse, cultism and economic stagnation & the way out ” to be delivered by Prof. Femi Mimiko.

Akinjayeju noted that he week-long celebrations will climax at a grand finale in December 7, at the Ondo Civic Centre ground under the Chairmanship of Olabintan Famutimi, the President of the Nigerian-American Chambers of Commerce, supported by other eminent personalities.

He added that there would also be a gala nite with performance from King Sunny Ade and his African beats to round off the festival.
