All is now set for the maiden convocation and 11th anniversary of Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH), Igbesa, scheduled for Saturday, October 14, 2017, at the institution’s Multipurpose Hall, Igbesa, Ogun State.

It will be a combined convocation for graduands who had passed through the school since it was established in 2006, for the conferment of Honourary Fellowship Award, Award of Higher National Diploma, National Diploma and Presentation of Prizes.

The convocation was kick-started with a press briefing last Thursday. This will be followed by Health Walk/Novelty Match on Monday, October 9, 2017, while convocation lecture, Rector’s award ceremony/Staff Banquet, Jumat service and commissioning of Mass Communication Building are scheduled to hold from Tuesday, through Saturday.

At the press conference, the Rector, Engr. Dr. (Mrs) Akinkurolere Olufunke Olanike, disclosed that over 7,000 graduands would be awarded various degrees, at the event, which would be presided by Governor Ibikunle Amosun.

While noting that one of the challenges she inherited as the second substantive rector, since she assumed office three years ago, was the accreditation status of the institution, she said 26 courses are fully accredited, adding that the school has sustained a stable academic calendar.

“Through the efforts of government, all our activities have been computerised. We have enjoyed training and retraining of our staff. Our challenges are majorly on infrastructure, we need more classrooms and hostels, but all these challenges are surmountable.

“One of the things that makes products of this institution competitive is our entrepreneurship centre. We always ensure that our students acquire one vocation or the other, hairdressing, fashion designing, soap making or other vocations to make them complete. Our students made all the CCTVs on our campus. At the end, they would be equipped with three different certificates when graduating-one, their regular course, two, the entrepreneurship skill acquired, and three, CISCO Certification.”
