Nollywood star recalls days of humble beginning

Adaeze Etoniru, an award winning Nollywood actress/presenter is a graduate of University of Lagos, Akoka, Nigeria. Based in the United Kingdom, she joined the industry during her university years when he made his first appearance on screen.

“My first day on set experience gave me the courage to this great present stage in acting. I was given a golden role to act alongside Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD) and Lilian Bach; anxiety took over me. Each time the director called ‘Action…’ I was so nervous and forgot most of my lines, but they both encouraged me so hard to make sure I played that role. They were very patient and nice,” she noted.

Unfortunately, Adaeze lost the role but didn’t lose hope.

“I tried but failed and obviously lost that role; it was very disappointing. I got home that day cried my eyes out, stood in front of the mirror and asked myself if those stars have two heads. Through my determination and sheer hard work, I’m where I am today. I give all glory to God,” she said.

Adaeze’s major break in the film industry eventually came after she featured in the movies Mark Of The Best directed by Ugo Ugbor, Best of the game directed by Ifeanyi Onyeabor, House Wives And Girlfriends, a TV series produced by Rhoda Wilson (UK) and Akpi In Manchester produced by Liliuwin Proent (UK).

“Aside acting, I’m a presenter and a social service worker and combining all jobs together seems really amazing. I appreciate God for his strength.”
