Nigeria’s Olowofoyeku on Glo-sponsored African Voices

African Voices Changemakers on the Cable News Network (CNN) will this week feature Folake Olowofoyeku, popular actress on America’s hilarious television series, Bob Hearts Abishola.

African Voices Changemakers on the Cable News Network (CNN) will this week feature Folake Olowofoyeku, popular actress on America’s hilarious television series, Bob Hearts Abishola. Telecommunications giant, Globacom, sponsors the 30-minute programme.

Also featuring on the programme alongside Olowofoyeku is South African singer, Makhadzi, who is fondly referred to as the ‘Queen of Limpopo’.

Nigeria-born Olowofoyeku who also plays music under the moniker, The Folake, is 37. She was born in Lagos, and attended Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls as well as Oxbridge Tutorial in the same city before relocating to America in 2001.  There, she bagged a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater from the City College of New York and in 2019 began to co-star with American comedian Billy Gardell.

Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, 24, otherwise called Makhadzi, is appreciated for her songs, notable among which are “Tshanda Vhuya” and “Matorokisi. She was one of the performers at the 2020 DSTV Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Awards. She emerged -winner of the best Tshivenda hit with her song Yo Shoma during the Limpopo Music Awards ceremony in 2017 and was in 2018 nominated at the TSHIMA awards for Best Tshivenda Dance Artist/Album of the Year, Female Artist of the Year, Tshivenda Song of the Year.

Olowofoyeku and Makhadzi will be on African Voices Changemakers on Saturday at 9.30 a.m. with repeat broadcasts from Sunday 4.30 a.m., 7.30 a.m., 12.30p.m, 7.30 p.m. and Monday at 5.30 a.m. The edition returns on Tuesday and Wednesday in two 15-minute-parts at 6.45 p.m on both days.
